IBE - Payment Gateway
With the exception of PayPal, the Hotel / Resort needs to have a credit card merchant account BEFORE signing up a payment gateway. Integration Fees will be quoted on request and include one time fee for interfacing any of the Payment Gateways. If the payment gateway interface exists it should be lesser cost.
Payment gateways are fully integrated online payment processing solutions. They allow the Booking Engine secure server to communicate silently with the transaction processing engine.
Payment gateways are commonly used for shopping cart type transactions; that is choosing an item to buy and then paying for it immediately online.
The customer (hotel guest) enters personal information (e.g. name, address, credit card number, etc.) into a payment confirmation form. When the customer clicks to confirm the reservation, the personal information is encrypted using 128-bit SSL technology and sent to the payment gateway transaction server. The transaction server sends the data through the authorization network to the appropriate card issuer's bank, using a secure, proprietary connection. When the authorization process is complete (this takes around five seconds), an approved or declined response is sent back to the secure server. And the customer (hotel guest) will either see a final confirmation screen, or a 'credit card declined' message.
